90화 남은 말

보고가 끝나고 화면이 꺼졌다.

사무실에 두 사람만 남았다. 저녁 일곱 시였고, MJ와 다른 직원들은 이미 퇴근한 뒤였다.

은호가 노트북을 덮었다.

"…끝났네요."

"네."

"1년 반이요."

태경이 의자에 기댔다. 그러곤 천장을 봤다.

"작년 이맘때 제가 뭐 했는지 아세요?"

"…모르겠어요."

"인수인계 메모 쓰고 있었어요." 태경이 말했다. "은호 씨한테 넘길 거."

은호가 웃었다.

"저는 그거 세 번 읽었어요."

"알아요. 말했잖아요."

"근데 대리님," 은호가 말했다. "그 메모에 세 번째 항목 있었잖아요."

"…네."

"이유를 안 쓰셨더라고요."

태경이 은호를 봤다.

"지금 물어보는 거예요?"

"네."

태경이 잠깐 아무 말도 하지 않았다.

"…말하면 은호 씨가 그 사람을 미워하게 될 것 같았어요."

"지금은요?"

"지금은," 태경이 말했다. "은호 씨가 미워해도 괜찮을 것 같아요."

The report ended and the screen went dark.

Only the two of them were left. It was seven in the evening; MJ and the others had gone home.

Eunho closed his laptop.

"…It's over."

"Yes."

"A year and a half."

Taekyung leaned back in his chair and looked at the ceiling.

"Do you know what I was doing this time last year?"

"…No."

"Writing a handover note," he said. "The one for you."

Eunho laughed.

"I read it three times."

"I know. You told me."

"But that note," Eunho said. "There was a third item."

"…Yes."

"You didn't write the reason."

Taekyung looked at him.

"Are you asking now?"

"Yes."

He said nothing for a moment.

"…I thought that if I told you, you'd end up hating her."

"And now?"

"Now," he said, "I think it's all right if you do."
