3월, 프로젝트 실행 단계가 끝났다.

1년 반 전 서울에서 시작된 일이었다. 시장 분석, 공급업체 리스크, 계약 검토. 은호가 처음부터 맡았던 부분들이 전부 실제 숫자로 돌아왔다.

이사회 보고가 화상으로 진행됐다. 서울에서 임원 넷이 접속했고, 싱가포르에서 태경과 은호가 앉았다.

태경이 발표를 시작하려는데 마이크를 은호 쪽으로 밀었다.

"시장 분석과 공급업체 리스크는 강은호 담당이 발표하겠습니다."

은호는 놀라지 않았다. 작년 12월에도 그랬으니까.

발표가 끝나고 임원 한 명이 물었다.

"1년 반 전 예측이랑 실제 숫자가 왜 이렇게 가깝습니까?"

은호가 답했다.

"보수적으로 잡았습니다. 그리고 공급업체 리스크를 한 달 일찍 반영했는데, 그게 컸습니다."

"그건 누가 판단했습니까?"

은호가 잠깐 멈췄다.

"…확인해보라고 하신 분이 계셨습니다."

화면 너머에서 아무도 그게 누구인지 묻지 않았다.

In March, the implementation phase closed.

It had begun in Seoul a year and a half earlier. Market analysis, supplier risk, contract review — everything Eunho had handled from the start came back as actual figures.

The board report was held by video. Four executives joined from Seoul; Taekyung and Eunho sat in Singapore.

As Taekyung began, he pushed the microphone toward Eunho.

"Market analysis and supplier risk will be presented by Mr. Kang."

Eunho was not surprised. It had happened last December too.

After the presentation one executive asked,

"Why are the figures so close to the projection from eighteen months ago?"

Eunho answered.

"We projected conservatively. And we factored in supplier risk a month early, which mattered more than anything else."

"Who made that call?"

Eunho paused.

"…Someone told me to check it."

No one on the other side of the screen asked who.
