88화 통풍구

금요일 아침, 은호가 먼저 출근했다.

사무실에 아무도 없었다. 은호가 자기 자리 위 통풍구를 봤다. 닫혀 있었다.

의자를 끌어와 올라섰다. 통풍구 두 개를 다시 열었다.

그러곤 태경 자리로 갔다. 문가 자리 위 통풍구를 절반쯤 닫았다.

내려와서 의자를 제자리에 놓았을 때, 뒤에서 소리가 났다.

태경이 문 앞에 서 있었다.

"…뭐 하세요."

"아무것도 안 했는데요."

"…"

"제 자리 통풍구가 열려 있고, 대리님 자리는 반쯤 닫혀 있어요." 은호가 말했다. "원래 그랬어요."

태경이 자기 자리 위를 봤다. 그러곤 은호를 봤다.

"감기 걸렸잖아요."

"나았어요."

"어제 기침했어요."

"오늘은 안 했어요."

두 사람이 잠깐 마주 봤다.

태경이 먼저 웃었다.

"…알겠어요."

그러곤 자기 자리에 앉았다.

은호는 그날 하루 종일 태경이 재킷을 벗지 않는 걸 봤다.

On Friday morning Eunho came in first.

No one else was there. He looked at the vent above his desk. Closed.

He pulled over a chair and stood on it. He opened both vents again.

Then he went to Taekyung's desk. He closed the vent above the door desk halfway.

As he stepped down and put the chair back, there was a sound behind him.

Taekyung was standing in the doorway.

"…What are you doing."

"Nothing."

"…"

"My vent is open and yours is half closed," Eunho said. "That's how it was."

Taekyung looked up at his own ceiling. Then at Eunho.

"You had a cold."

"I'm better."

"You coughed yesterday."

"I haven't today."

They looked at each other for a moment.

Taekyung laughed first.

"…All right."

Then he sat down at his desk.

All that day Eunho noticed he did not take his jacket off.
