87화 2월

2월, 은호가 감기에 걸렸다.

싱가포르에서 감기에 걸리는 건 이상한 일이었다. 밖은 삼십 도인데 사무실 에어컨이 이십사 도로 고정되어 있었다.

목요일 아침, 은호가 자리에서 기침을 세 번 했다.

태경이 화면에서 눈을 뗐다.

"…약 먹었어요?"

"네."

한 시간 뒤, 은호 책상에 종이컵이 놓였다. 따뜻한 물이었다.

점심때는 죽집에서 사 온 죽이 놓였다.

오후에는 은호 자리 위 에어컨 송풍구가 닫혀 있었다.

은호가 그걸 알아챈 건 세 시쯤이었다.

"대리님."

"네."

"에어컨이요."

"…네."

"창가 자리는 에어컨 바람 안 닿는다면서요."

태경이 잠깐 말이 없었다.

"…안 닿는 자리가 하나예요. 지금 은호 씨가 앉은 자리."

"그럼 대리님은요?"

"저는 문가라서요."

은호가 태경 쪽을 봤다.

태경은 얇은 셔츠 하나만 입고 있었다. 문가 자리였다. 에어컨 바람이 정면으로 닿는 자리였다.

In February, Eunho caught a cold.

Catching a cold in Singapore was a strange thing. It was thirty degrees outside and the office air conditioning was fixed at twenty-four.

On Thursday morning he coughed three times at his desk.

Taekyung looked up from his screen.

"…Did you take something?"

"Yes."

An hour later a paper cup appeared on Eunho's desk. Warm water.

At lunch there was porridge from the shop down the road.

In the afternoon the vent above his desk had been closed.

He noticed around three.

"Taekyung."

"Yes?"

"The air conditioning."

"…Yes."

"You said the window desks are the ones it doesn't blow onto."

Taekyung was quiet for a moment.

"…There's one desk it doesn't reach. The one you're sitting at."

"Then what about yours?"

"Mine's by the door."

Eunho looked over.

He was wearing a thin shirt. The desk by the door. The one the air blew straight onto.
