78화 둘째 날

목요일 아침, 은호가 다시 만든 자료를 냈다.

하윤이 그걸 십 분쯤 봤다. 그러곤 고개를 끄덕였다.

"됐어요."

"…네."

"어제보다 낫네요. 어제 건 왜 그랬어요?"

"급하게 만들었습니다."

"솔직하네." 하윤이 서류를 덮었다. "그거 좋은 습관이에요."

점심때 하윤이 은호를 불렀다.

두 사람은 지사 근처 카페에 앉았다. 하윤이 커피를 시키고 한참 말이 없다가 물었다.

"태경 씨 어때요? 여기서."

"…잘 지내십니다."

"그거 말고."

은호가 하윤을 봤다.

"제가 아는 그 사람이랑 같은 사람이냐고 묻는 거예요."

"…"

"작년 겨울에 제가 태경 씨한테 메일을 하나 보냈어요." 하윤이 컵을 만졌다. "7년 동안 타이밍이 아니라는 말만 들었다고요."

은호는 그 메일을 알고 있었다. 정확히는 그 메일의 일부를.

"근데 여기 와서 보니까," 하윤이 말했다. "타이밍이 온 것 같더라고요."

On Thursday morning, Eunho submitted the revised materials.

Hayoon read them for about ten minutes. Then she nodded.

"These are fine."

"…Thank you."

"Better than yesterday. Why were yesterday's like that?"

"I made them in a hurry."

"Honest." She closed the folder. "That's a good habit."

At lunch she asked him to come with her.

They sat in a cafe near the branch. She ordered coffee and said nothing for a while before asking,

"How is he? Here."

"…He's doing well."

"Not that."

Eunho looked at her.

"I'm asking whether he's the same person I knew."

"…"

"Last winter I sent him an email." She turned her cup. "About how for seven years all I'd heard was that the timing wasn't right."

Eunho knew that email. Part of it, at least.

"But coming here," she said. "It looks like the timing came."
