10월 중순, 본사에서 사람이 왔다.

싱가포르 지사 3개월 점검이었다. 서울에서 두 명이 오는데, 그중 한 명이 하윤이었다.

은호가 그 이름을 명단에서 봤을 때 잠깐 멈췄다.

작년에 본사에서 왔던 사람. 태경의 입사 동기. 그리고 회식 자리에서 나란히 서 있던 사람.

수요일 오후, 하윤이 지사에 도착했다.

"오랜만이에요, 강 사원님. 아니, 이제 강 담당님인가."

"안녕하세요."

하윤이 사무실을 둘러봤다. 그러곤 태경 자리를 봤다. 문가 자리였다.

"…여전하네."

"네?"

"아무것도 아니에요."

점검은 이틀간 진행됐다. 하윤은 서류를 꼼꼼히 봤고, 질문도 정확했다. 은호가 준비한 자료에 실수가 두 개 있었는데 둘 다 찾아냈다.

"이거 다시 해오세요."

"…네."

"내일 아침까지."

첫날이 그렇게 끝났다.

On Wednesday afternoon, she arrived at the branch.

"Good afternoon."

She looked around the office. Then at Taekyung's desk. The one by the door.

"…Still the same."

"Sorry?"

"It's nothing."

The review ran two days. She read the documents closely and her questions were precise. There were two errors in the materials Eunho had prepared, and she found both.

"Do these again."

"…Yes."

"By tomorrow morning."

That was how the first day ended.
