July 7 was the day Taekyung went back.
Over the three days they had done nothing special. They ate. They walked. When it rained they shared one umbrella. During the hours Eunho was at work, Taekyung sat alone in a bookshop.
On the last evening, Taekyung asked,
"When do you start packing?"
"I leave in early September, so around August."
"And your apartment?"
"The lease ends at the end of August, so it works out."
"…It does."
Then he was quiet for a moment before saying,
"Can I ask you to bring one thing?"
"What is it."
"There's a cabinet at my place."
Eunho looked up.
It was the metal cabinet from the third-floor archive room. The one whose bottom drawer had been locked.
"I meant to take it, but I couldn't get it shipped when I moved." He said it evenly. "Could you send it with your things?"
"…Yes."
"You have the key."
Eunho looked at him.
The key he had been handed a year ago, and had put in a drawer without opening anything.
"I still have it."
"I know." Taekyung smiled briefly. "That's why I'm asking you."
