그날 이후 태경은 더 사무적으로 변했다.

필요한 말만, 딱 그만큼만. 은호가 다가가려 하면 미묘하게 거리를 뒀다. 회의에서도 시선이 마주치는 일이 없었다.

며칠을 망설이던 은호가 결국 물었다.

"그때 화내신 거, 제가 뭘 잘못한 건가요?"

태경이 한참 침묵하다 낮게 답했다. "잘못한 거 없어요."

"그럼—"

"그냥… 내가 이런 얘기 하는 거 자체가 싫어서 그래요." 목소리에 지친 기색이 역력했다. "다들 걱정하는 척하면서 결국 궁금한 거잖아요. 뭐 때문에 이러는지."

은호는 아무 반박도 하지 못했다.

부정할 수 없었으니까. 자신도 궁금했으니까.

"When you got angry that day — did I do something wrong?"

Taekyung was silent for a long moment, then answered quietly. "You didn't do anything wrong."

"Then—"

"It's just… I don't like talking about it at all." Exhaustion was plain in his voice. "Everyone pretends to be concerned, but in the end they're just curious. About what's behind it."

Eunho couldn't argue.

Because he couldn't deny it. He had been curious too.
