English

"Stay with me, Hangyeol."

The voice, low and settled, pressed down on the air inside the office.

It was an order and a notice at once.

Hangyeol glared at him, his face red. The head chef had called the staff night out himself. For him to hold one of his own people back from it was plainly a **foul**.

"The whole staff is getting together. The head chef missing it is one thing, but me missing it is—mmph."

Before the **objection** could finish, Daniel's lips came down on his again.

This time he did not ask permission. Tongues tangled, and the sound of saliva mixing rang out bare and clear inside the narrow office.

Daniel took his lips away only when Hangyeol's breath was completely blocked, and even then with **reluctance**. Rough breaths tangled together and burned hot beside Hangyeol's ear.

"The staff night out can happen another night."

A voice gone rough and **hoarse** whispered, brushing down the curve of Hangyeol's ear.

"Tonight is my time."

Bzzt— bzzt—

What broke the tension between the two of them was a buzzing from Hangyeol's pocket.

Hangyeol pulled the phone out in a hurry and checked the screen.

**[Liam: Hangyeol, where are you? We got a table already! Hurry up!]**

Hangyeol's face went stiff at what he saw. Daniel read the same screen over Hangyeol's shoulder. A shallow line formed between his brows.

"Answer it."

The hand around Hangyeol's waist tightened with a quiet pressure.

"Tell him you're not coming. Now."

Hangyeol looked up at him.

Then he pushed both hands hard against Daniel's chest. A gap opened, wide enough for one step back.

"Daniel. Come to your senses."

"..."

"Everyone from the kitchen is downstairs. If I'm the only one missing up here, they will think it is strange."

"And let me ask you one thing."

Hangyeol lowered the phone.

"What you said earlier—did you mean it? That because you hold my visa, I am not in a position to refuse."

Daniel's face went hard.

"I meant it."

"Then what about now."

"..."

"You said I can't go without your permission. You said to tell him I'm not coming."

Hangyeol's voice was not raised. If anything, it was calmer than before.

"Thirty minutes ago I said I would judge that myself, and Chef accepted it. And thirty minutes later, Chef is the one deciding again."

The office went quiet.

Daniel did not argue back. He was looking at Hangyeol, and yet his eyes did not seem to be looking at Hangyeol. They were the eyes of a man looking somewhere other than this room.

A few seconds passed, and he ran a hand down his face once.

"...I'm sorry."

Hangyeol blinked. It was the first time he had seen this man apologize.

"Daniel."

"It's a habit."

"What habit."

"...Nothing."

Daniel pushed his hair back and set the sleeves of his chef coat straight. It was the moment the cool head chef's face came back.

Hangyeol saw the **switch**. He also knew that the man had just put something back inside himself. But this was not the place to ask.

"Thirty minutes."

Daniel said.

"Go down to the pub, show your face, and come back up ahead of the others after thirty minutes. I'll wait in the office."

"Is that an order too?"

"It's a request."

Hangyeol looked at him for a moment.

"...Fine. But on the condition that you don't try anything."

The corner of Daniel's mouth twisted upward.

"I'll think about that when the time comes, Han."
