오전 열 시, 사내 게시판에 결과가 올라왔다.

은호는 그 시간에 창고 재고를 세고 있었다. 일부러 그렇게 잡았다. 자리에 앉아서 화면만 보고 있을 자신이 없었다.

지하에서 올라오니 옆자리 선배가 먼저 봤다.

"야, 났어."

은호는 손을 씻고 자리에 앉았다. 마우스를 잡는데 손끝이 조금 떨렸다.

세 번을 읽었다.

축하 인사가 몇 개 왔다. 팀장이 지나가며 어깨를 두드렸다. 은호는 웃으며 인사했는데, 어떻게 웃었는지 기억이 나지 않았다.

점심때 화장실에 가서 세수를 했다. 거울을 보니 얼굴이 조금 빨갰다.

휴대폰을 꺼냈다.

메시지를 쓰려는데 뭐라고 써야 할지 몰라서, 결국 게시판 화면을 찍어 보냈다.

답은 곧바로 왔다.

*축하해요.*

그리고 십 초쯤 뒤에.

*그럼 휴가 안 내도 되겠네요.*

은호가 웃었다.

*내셔도 돼요.*

이번엔 답이 오래 걸렸다.

*…그럼 낼게요.*

At ten in the morning, the results went up on the internal board.

Eunho was counting warehouse stock at that hour. He had arranged it that way on purpose. He did not trust himself to sit at his desk staring at a screen.

When he came up from the basement, his colleague had already seen it.

"It's out."

Eunho washed his hands and sat down. His fingertips shook a little as he took the mouse.

He read it three times.

A few messages of congratulation came in. The team leader passed by and clapped him on the shoulder. Eunho thanked him with a smile, though afterward he could not remember how he had smiled.

At lunch he went to the washroom and splashed water on his face. In the mirror his face was slightly red.

He took out his phone.

He started to write a message, could not think what to say, and in the end photographed the board and sent that.

The reply came at once.

*Congratulations.*

And about ten seconds later,

*So I won't need the leave after all.*

Eunho laughed.

*You can still take it.*

This time the answer took a while.

*…Then I will.*
