44화 인수인계

3월 중순, 인수인계가 시작됐다.

태경은 4월 말에 떠난다. 그때까지 프로젝트 실행 단계의 기반을 다 넘겨야 했다.

문제는 넘겨받을 사람이 정해지지 않았다는 것이었다.

"당분간은 은호 씨가 실무를 맡아요." 팀장이 말했다. "정식 후임은 6월에 뽑을 거고."

"저요?"

"태경 씨가 추천했어요."

은호가 태경 쪽을 봤다. 태경은 서류를 정리하고 있었다.

그날 저녁, 인수인계 목록을 함께 보면서 은호가 물었다.

"왜 저를 추천하셨어요?"

"누구보다 제일 잘 아니까요."

"…그게 다예요?"

태경이 손을 멈췄다. 잠깐 생각하는 것 같았다.

"아니요."

"그럼요."

"6월에 정식 채용하면, 그 사람이 다시 배워야 해요. 그동안 프로젝트는 멈추고요." 태경이 담담하게 말했다. "그리고 은호 씨가 실무를 맡고 있으면, 싱가포르 파견 공고 났을 때 지원 자격이 생겨요."

은호가 고개를 들었다.

태경은 여전히 서류를 보고 있었다.

In mid-March, the handover began.

Taekyung would leave at the end of April. Everything needed for the implementation phase had to be transferred by then.

The problem was that no successor had been named.

"Eunho will handle operations for now," the team leader said. "We'll hire a formal replacement in June."

"Me?"

"Taekyung recommended you."

Eunho looked over. Taekyung was straightening his papers.

That evening, going through the handover list together, Eunho asked,

"Why did you recommend me?"

"You know it best of anyone."

"…Is that all?"

Taekyung's hands stopped. He seemed to think for a moment.

"No."

"Then?"

"If we hire in June, that person has to learn it from the start. The project stops in the meantime." He said it evenly. "And if you're already handling operations, you'll qualify when the Singapore posting opens."

Eunho looked up.

Taekyung was still looking at the papers.
