33화 우산

2월 초, 갑자기 비가 내렸다.

퇴근길에 두 사람이 같이 나섰는데 은호만 우산이 있었다. 접이식 작은 우산이었다.

"같이 쓰죠."

"괜찮아요. 지하철역까지 금방이에요."

"금방이어도 젖어요." 은호가 우산을 태경 쪽으로 기울였다. "그리고 대리님 감기 걸리면 제가 일 두 배 해야 해요."

태경이 잠깐 망설이다 우산 아래로 들어왔다.

작은 우산이었다. 어깨가 닿을 수밖에 없었다.

두 사람은 아무 말 없이 걸었다. 빗소리가 우산 위에서 크게 울렸다. 은호는 자기 오른쪽 어깨가 젖고 있다는 걸 알았지만 우산을 옮기지 않았다.

역 앞에 도착했을 때, 태경이 말했다.

"은호 씨 어깨 다 젖었어요."

"아, 그래요?"

"…알고 있었잖아요."

은호가 웃었다. "네."

태경이 뭐라 말하려다 그만뒀다. 대신 짧게 말했다. "감기 걸리지 마요."

그러곤 먼저 계단을 내려갔다.

In early February, it started raining suddenly.

They left the office together, and only Eunho had an umbrella — a small folding one.

"Let's share it."

"It's fine. The station is close."

"Close still gets you wet." Eunho tilted the umbrella toward him. "And if you catch a cold, I do twice the work."

Taekyung hesitated, then stepped under it.

It was a small umbrella. Their shoulders had no choice but to touch.

They walked without speaking. The rain drummed loudly overhead. Eunho knew his right shoulder was getting soaked, and he didn't move the umbrella.

When they reached the station, Taekyung said,

"Your shoulder is completely wet."

"Is it?"

"…You knew."

Eunho smiled. "Yes."

Taekyung started to say something, then stopped. Instead he said briefly, "Don't catch a cold."

And he went down the stairs first.
